The A-11 is inimitable in its heritage and place in history among military watches—and all watches, for that matter. The original A-11 was based on US Government specifications for watches for military use and was critical to military success in the world’s most pivotal conflicts. The Praesidus A-11 Type 44 is the modern equivalent, enhancing the original A-11 through upgraded construction and time-keeping specifications.
The Type 44 measures 38mm across, 45mm lug-to-lug, and 13mm thick with a 20mm lug width. It features a surgical-grade polished stainless steel case that guarantees 10 ATM water resistance, far more than the original A-11. Despite the modern ratings, a double-domed acrylic crystal with an anti-reflective coating still provides the watch with an old-school look and feel.
Inside is the Swiss-made SOPROD P024 caliber, which features 25-jewels, hacking seconds, a 38 hour power reserve, and a frequency of 28,800 bph. A hand wound movement, it provides the authentic feel of an original manually wound A-11 but with modern components and timekeeping technology.
